I am glad we have a three day weekend --- life has been busy lately and I need a break :) I spent most of last week in Portland for work. It was my first trip without Noah -- I survived. Evelyn was under the weather and had a fever both the day before I left and the day I left -- why do kids always seem to get sick exactly when we don't want them to? She kicked the fever and bounced back fast though.
Last weekend was our anniversary celebration. Our night out was great. We spent the night at the Salish Lodge -- it is an amazing hotel located right at the top of Snoqualmie Falls. Check out the photo I took Saturday morning during breakfast -- a perfect little rainbow to start our perfect day together :)
Later in the day we went on a cruise around Lake Washington. It was a lot of fun. The weather was beautiful, so that helped too! The cruise included history about the lake, area, etc --- and also a lot of information on real estate and home owners in the area. Bill Gates' house was pointed out -- and also another huge mansion owned by some guy that used to date Martha Stewart. We also walked around a winery in the morning and had an afternoon drink/snack at our favorite mexican restaurant in town -- they have outdoor seating and we people-watched for a while before heading back home to the kids and the "real world" again.
In other news, my sister-in-law Kim delivered her baby this morning (11 days past her due date). Poor girl -- they were giving her all kinds of stuff to try to induce her and speed up her labor, and then she couldn't dilate past 5 -- so she ended up with a c-section. Sounded like she was pretty exhausted -- but I think she was feeling better once she saw her new little angel! They are still trying to decide on a middle name -- but her first name is Lola. Congrats Chuck & Kim!
