One day while driving along with the kiddos, we passed two women running together on the sidewalk. Evelyn was all excited and yelled, "Look mommy, cool runner girls like you!!" :)

looking for new options...

So, I figured out that the mini-pill just doesn't work for me. It is a special kind of birth control that breastfeeding mothers can use -- and it is not supposed to hurt your milk supply. "Not supposed to" is the important part of that statement. I am apparently part of the select few people out there that is does have an effect on. After taking it for only about 5 days I was pretty much out of milk -- I had to stop. Now I am working on getting my supply back again... ugh!

The same thing happened after Evelyn was born... for some reason I thought I would give it another try. My ob/gyn gave me a different brand than last time and I had high hopes that it would work. No such luck.

So, now I need to think about other options... if Travis and I weren't so darn fertile I wouldn't worry about it. My doctor talked to me about an IUD -- but those scare me a little bit. I am going to call my doctor's office and talk to his nurse to see what my other options are. When is the male contraceptive coming out? I wish there was a pill they could take...

I had the same problem, my doctor put me on a low dose and told me I'd be fine. It dried me up. BC choices are so hard. It would be nice to try the male one:)

That sucks, Michelle. Hopefully your supply comes back quick. I do agree that you and Trav are very fertile as we both know what happened last time....you got pregnant while BF....lol

I'm still a huge fan of my IUD. I have two cousins that use it as well and we are all very happy. I think that if you focus on the people that have had poor experiences with the IUDs you will just set yourself up for failure if you choose to go that route. I think the 5 minutes of being uncomfortable it total worth 5 years of no BC worries!!

Aw - no kidding on BC frustrations! Hope you find something that works!

I just got an IUD and so far I am very happy. I have had mid cycle bleeding since the time I had Emerson and no pill helped, plus I hear you about the fertility thing and I am happy with two. So I'm not pregnant and my periods are back to normal after one month, works for me. Agree that it was about 5 minutes of discomfort (nothing compared to any form of child birth) and that was it. Let me know if you want more info.
Good luck!
