So we ended up staying for a couple of nights at a friend's cabin in Paradise, Michigan. It was great -- it was right on Lake Superior. One of the mornings we took a drive to the Whitefish Point Lighthouse. It was really neat. We got a private tour of the lighthouse before it opened to the public. We met one of the local people that works there the night before and she offered to show us around :) We were able to go up these narrow windy stairs all the way to the top! We also went into the museum where they have a lot of memorials and things. They even have the bell that was recovered from the Edmund Fitzgerald. I guess the Edmund Fitzgerald went down close to Whitefish Point. It is apparently one of the roughest areas of Lake Superior during storms. Here is a picture of Travis and I up in the lighthouse:
While staying on Lake Superior, my dad was very excited to give Evelyn her first 4-wheeler ride. As kids, my brother and I were always riding on 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, etc --- so he wants Evelyn to experience that too.
Notice the hat in the picture --- Evelyn got her first baseball hat in Mackinac Island. My dad thought it looked better backwards :) Ha ha ha
Once back in Saginaw, we were able to visit with more family and friends. It was a great vacation. I was extremely glad that we were able to stay as long as we did. We didn't feel rushed the entire vacation --- we had enough time to visit with everyone and also get in some relaxing, too. It was perfect. :)

I didn't know you were from Saginaw! I am from Bay City! What high school did you go to?
Yup -- grew up in Shields. I went to Swan Valley. What high school were you at?
Evelyn looks like she is way into the 4 wheeler! You better watch out! ;)
That is a really nice picture of you and Travis!
That's so funny that your dad took her on a 4-wheeler ride already!
I went to BC Western. My brothers girlfriend is from Saginaw and went to Arthur Hill - that is why I asked. Small world :)
I love the hat. I think you should frame the picture for Grandparents Day and give to your dad. You can tell he is a HAPPY and PROUD grandpa!!!
