One day while driving along with the kiddos, we passed two women running together on the sidewalk. Evelyn was all excited and yelled, "Look mommy, cool runner girls like you!!" :)

This is how a heart breaks

Let's just say that it has been a stressful week. The kids started a new "school" on Monday, and it is proving to be a little challenging for Evelyn. I fully expected this to happen -- I thought Noah would be fine... and he is. We get to the childcare center, I ask him if he wants to go play... he happily yells "YEAH!!" and runs away to play with the toys.

Evelyn is a different story. Monday was actually the easiest of the days to drop her off... there were tears, but not a lot. Every day since has been a total struggle. She tells me first thing in the morning that she doesn't want to go to school. Once we are there she screams, tells me that she doesn't want me to leave, tells me that she wants to come with me, etc. It truly is heartbreaking. Not the best way to start my mornings. I am emotionally exhausted before 8AM!

The kids have always been in a "in-home daycare". I felt this was great when they were infants... smaller group of kids, more one-on-one attention, etc. However, I have felt for a while now that Evelyn needed a little bit more. The new school will have a lot more structure, craft time & outdoor play time every day, includes a pre-school, etc. Evelyn will eventually love it at her new school... I have no doubts about that. We just need to get through this transition phase.
On a happier note, Evelyn's hair is finally long enough for cute pigtails!!

I know things will improve-it just takes time. Love the pigtails. The picture reminds me of you when you were that age.

Poor Evelyn and Poor Mom!!! My heart aches for both of you. Like you said, it will get better, but it doesn't make it any easier right now. Sending lots of hugs to both of you!

Evelyn has a great smile in the picture. Yay for long enough hair to do some fun things with. I finally decided to grow the girls' hair out just for that reason. I love short hair and how nice it looks most of the time, but I there weren't many options.

The pigtails are too cute! I hope she lets you do her hair for a long time!
And she will love her new school. Hopefully very soon!

Sorry to hear she's upset in the mornings. It's always so hard to start your day like that:(

Ava went through a similar thing when she started kindergarten. I cried when she cried in the mornings, and when I picked her up. Eventually she got her confidence back and now LOVES school, but there was an adjustment phase. It's so hard. Hopefully Evelyn's adjustment phases zooms by!

The piggies are adoreable!

Those are the cutest pigtails! And the cutest little "cheese" face :)

I think Noah and JJ would have a ton of fun together - he goes to day care for a few hours every Thurs, and he cannot wait to get there and play with the toys and kids.

I hope Evelyn's transition goes by quickly.

you guys will get there - it really is just so hard to see them cry and go through such emotional turmoil. after your drop them off, get in the car and eat a giant piece of chocolate ;P evelyn is such a lil girl now in those pigtails - adorable! w/ a grin like that, she can only be in a bad mood for so long, right?! :)

First she is so cute!!! Love the pigtails! I'm so sorry it's been so rough!! I hope she adjusts soon--that's such a hard way to start the day :( At least this way she'll be all ready and set to go to Kindergarten---I went kicking and screaming at 5 and I'm worried Rachel will do the same....
