One day while driving along with the kiddos, we passed two women running together on the sidewalk. Evelyn was all excited and yelled, "Look mommy, cool runner girls like you!!" :)

Long weekend

I am glad we have a three day weekend --- life has been busy lately and I need a break :) I spent most of last week in Portland for work. It was my first trip without Noah -- I survived. Evelyn was under the weather and had a fever both the day before I left and the day I left -- why do kids always seem to get sick exactly when we don't want them to? She kicked the fever and bounced back fast though.

Last weekend was our anniversary celebration. Our night out was great. We spent the night at the Salish Lodge -- it is an amazing hotel located right at the top of Snoqualmie Falls. Check out the photo I took Saturday morning during breakfast -- a perfect little rainbow to start our perfect day together :)
Later in the day we went on a cruise around Lake Washington. It was a lot of fun. The weather was beautiful, so that helped too! The cruise included history about the lake, area, etc --- and also a lot of information on real estate and home owners in the area. Bill Gates' house was pointed out -- and also another huge mansion owned by some guy that used to date Martha Stewart. We also walked around a winery in the morning and had an afternoon drink/snack at our favorite mexican restaurant in town -- they have outdoor seating and we people-watched for a while before heading back home to the kids and the "real world" again.

In other news, my sister-in-law Kim delivered her baby this morning (11 days past her due date). Poor girl -- they were giving her all kinds of stuff to try to induce her and speed up her labor, and then she couldn't dilate past 5 -- so she ended up with a c-section. Sounded like she was pretty exhausted -- but I think she was feeling better once she saw her new little angel! They are still trying to decide on a middle name -- but her first name is Lola. Congrats Chuck & Kim!

4 years

Happy Anniversary to Me & Travis today!! (and Mel and her hubby, too!) It has been 4 years since our big day. Part of me is surprised that it has been 4 years already -- but part of me looks around at our life and how much it has changed, and it is hard to believe that it hasn't been longer than that!

Thanks Trav for coming into my life and bringing me so much love & laughter. Thank you for giving me 2 wonderful kids. Thank you for being such an amazing father to them. Thank you for putting up with me on a daily basis :) We are alike in a lot of ways, different in a lot of ways -- but it seems to work perfectly. I love you more each day -- and I can't imagine my life without you in it.

I pulled these photos from my computer just for old times sake...

Ha ha -- doing the chicken -- with special props courtesy of the dj!!!

Had to include this one, too. Looking at this picture I can't believe how much mine and Kara's lives have changed. Who knew that 4 years after this picture was taken we would have 5 kids between the two of us?! But who also knew that our friendship would continue to grow stronger with time -- and that we would have the joy of going through one of our pregnancies together (due dates 2 days apart). I wish I could have the Golden Girls theme song playing in the background here... :) Love ya, Kara!

Sunday night already...

I am not a fan of Sunday nights... I think it is a combination of being sad that the weekend is done -- and also being a little overwhelmed with the week and work starting back up again. Oh well... Here's a few updates for ya:

  • Noah weighed 18 lbs 2 oz last Thursday at his 4 month check-up. He is definitely going to weigh more than Evelyn -- probably before his 1st birthday!
  • Thursday is our 4 year wedding anniversary -- we have Trav's mom set to babysit on Friday night so Travis and I can do our annual anniversary celebration. Travis always plans it -- it is always a surprise -- it always involves spending the night (or before we had kids we would take the entire weekend) somewhere -- should be fun!!
  • My sister-in-law Kim is due to have her baby any day now. They are expecting a little girl. I am so excited for her!
  • Weight loss is going okay still. A co-worker called me the "incredible shrinking woman" the other day --- I definitely took it as a compliment!! I fit into all of my pre-pregnancy clothing --- but would love to still lose a few more lbs.
  • My first work trip is next week -- I leave Monday afternoon and get back Thursday night. It will be my first time leaving Noah -- ugh!

Here are a few pics from the weekend:

Gotta love this... Evelyn likes to get down and talk to Noah when he is having tummy time. He sometimes gets frustrated and I think she is trying to assure him that everything is going to be okay. (she just talks jibberish to him, so I'm not quite sure what she is telling him)
Evelyn doesn't quite understand how to ride on Daddy's shoulders yet... she always tends to slide down. Oh well -- it still works that way.

4 months

Here is the big guy -- hard to believe he is 4 months old already. Not sure his stats right now (length, weight, etc) his check-up is this Thursday. I swear, everything he does is extra cute because he is extra chubby! He was giggling the other day, and it was the cutest thing ever!! And how can you resist this chubby guy in his hawaiian shirt? :)

tired

I am so tired today -- I had to stop to get some caffeine before my next appointment.

It just dawned on me that 9 out of 10 days I am the last person to go to bed at night, the first person to get up in the morning, and that Noah and I are the only ones up in the middle of the night (most nights he sleeps until 5 or 6AM, but once in a while he is up around 2:00 for a quick feeding)

Grr... need.to.get.more.sleep!!

Nothing new...

Here are a few more pictures from our vacation that I forgot I had on my camera... Noah during an early morning walk (it was kinda cold and rainy one morning)

The group (minus me) before dinner at a great restaurant in Langley. This beautiful area is on their roof-top seating section.
Uncle Chuck and Evelyn. She is quite the little flirt -- she has a fondness for both of her handsome uncles already!!
Travis and Evelyn after a Tacoma Rainiers baseball game last Sunday. The weather was beautiful so we decided to see a game. We live a ton closer to Safeco Field (where the Seattle Mariners play) -- but the team is doing so poorly this year we decided to see the minor league team play instead! Nothing else new -- just glad tomorrow is Friday!

It's been a while...

Well, we had a nice vacation this past week. Langley is a very cute town. It was great to spend some time with Trav's side of the family. It felt good to just relax a bit. Even though I just recently went back to work, it was nice to get away from it all for a few days :)

Here are a few recent photos -- Noah napping in his carseat at the hotel/bed & breakfast we stayed at: Family picture on the rocking chairs in front of the main building. Too bad Noah was in his carseat -- this is the best family picture we have taken in a while!
Here is the entire group: My sister-in-law Kim's bridal shower was today (Sunday) -- Isn't she the cutest pregnant person?! I wish this photo showed her body/belly more -- she is adorable! She is due the end of August -- they are expecting a girl. Here we are with our mother-in-law, Sally:
Me and "big guy" (that has kinda become Noah's nickname -- Trav and I called him that when I was pregnant and the doctors were telling us that he might be big... it just kinda stuck. Evelyn was always our little peanut, and he is our big guy)
Evelyn playing with Cocoa during her bath tonight:
