One day while driving along with the kiddos, we passed two women running together on the sidewalk. Evelyn was all excited and yelled, "Look mommy, cool runner girls like you!!" :)

pee tents? rain-gear?

Moms of little boys, I need some advice... How can we take care of the constant peeing during diaper changes? I swear, it must be the cold air or something... almost every diaper change we are dealing with pee shooting through the air. The direction is never predictable either... sometimes it goes straight up in the air, sometimes sideways (squirting whoever is changing him), and he even squirted pee right up onto his face once! The poor guy! It was funny and sad all at the same time :)

I have tried to hold a diaper over the pee-er, but the diaper seems so big that it makes it impossible to see what you are doing underneath. We also tried a kleenex, but since he was circumsized and we are putting petroleum jelly on him, the kleenex just stuck to him and got all gooey...

I have seen little Pee tents in gift shops before... are those real or are they gag gifts? Any tips for this clueless mom?

Hi Michelle! Congratulations on your pee christening from your little boy! The pee stories are still funny to this day. I'd say the funniest ones are with Caden since he's our oldest and it seemed to happen the most. So, I'd say that we must have gotten better with controlling the pee! ;) All of our boys were circumcised and they all peed on us at least once and on themselves. The funniest story is when I took Caden (about 3 months old) to Mike's work and he needed a diaper change (blow out). Needless to say, we decided to change him on Mike's desk (in a closed office) and he proceeded to pee ALL over Mike and desk. I cracked up and Mike wasn't sure what to do or where to go.

So, on to how we got it to all stop.... by the time we had Colton we figured out that if we used spit up rag or wash rag (we had a few that we kept seperate from the rest) and used that as our pee-pee rag. We'd use it to lay over his private area (just waded up) and change him quickly. Yes, it'll get vaseline on him however it isn't as flimsy and trust me... pee will find a way to shoot that tissue in the air or soak through to you. I wouldn't spend money on a pee pee tent. It's faster to just lay the rag over him and quickly change. It'll help once he's healed because you won't have "extra stuff" to get done as you're changing him. Plus, the rag will help keep him a little warmer down there.

Good luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed that as he get use to the cold air he'll learn to control the pee or you'll be able to move fast. ;)

keep a dry washcloth w/ his diaper changing stuff. I keep it all in "the butt caddy". they do get better about peeing while being changed as they get older. Chase is WAY better now. he hasn't pooped on my in about a month either, which is wonderful.

You made me laugh :) Justin did not pee too much when we changed him, but it happened on occasion! The burp cloths were what I kept on his changing table. We had a wipes warmer too, I don't know if that helped or not? Once he heals from the circum. and you don't have to do the vaseline, it is much quicker and less chance for him to pee on you :) If you get a chance, email me at melissamet at hotmail.com - I don't have your email address!

Talk to you soon :)

I think you have received some good advice. I have changed boys diapers and usually use a wash rag. But since I only have girls, I am not an expert....hehehe

Hope he stops peeing on you all soon......lol

I didn't have that problem with Noah, but I know that Cat had the problem with Bradley. I think she used baby wash clothes because they're small enough.

Funny that you posted this though, I was in line at Babies R Us last week and at the check out line was a pee guard. It was an absorbant sponge shaped to go over the boy parts, but also so it could be worked around. I had never seen one, but I can totally understand their usefulness.

I'm with Mel - I use a dry baby washcloth, and just lay it over Gerald's wee-wee when I change him.

LOL the joys of pee pee. They do get better as they get older. ;) I used a little burp cloth too, but I do remember having to be so careful the first week while his wee wee was still healing from the circumcision.

Have fun! :)
